An Evening with Taglioni is based on a true story. When legendary ballerina Marie Taglioni, the first woman to ever go 'en pointe' retired, her pointe shoes were bought by a fan, cooked at a lavish dinner party and served to 35 guests.

Made in partnership with English National Ballet and featuring 20 of their dancers alongside a principal cast of actors and dancers, including Alessandra Ferri and Antonia Franceschi. An Evening with Taglioni is an independently produced film and was made with support from Arts Council England

An Evening with Taglioni premiered at the Venice Biennale 2021

‘We fell in love with this bizarre true story and spent years searching for a way to get it made.

Arts Council funding made it possible to be able to produce our longest and most ambitious independent film to date.

We decided to work with actors, as well as dancers, bringing dialogue into our work for the first time.

Crossing genres between dance film, narrative fiction and horror has been exciting new territory for us.’
